So I’m working on putting a GY6 Scooter clutch into the Urban Express. Here are some pics:
Here’s the old clutch. The fun part is trying to remove that 39mm nut on top. Despite numerous efforts, it hasn’t budged. I’m going to try some heat next. You can see where the old clutch pads are down to about 3/4 their original length. I’m not sure what happened there.
There’s a big contra spring between the pulley and the clutch so when you do remove it, you have to be careful for flying parts after the nut does come off. Here I’ve used the spare tire approach to hold the clutch/pulley together after nut removal. I’ll report back soon with a disassembled clutch, hopefully.
Been awhile since I got back to this page. Easiest thing to do is use an impact socket on the clutch nut. I’ve done a couple of these now and have another to do. I will do a video on the next one for complete coverage.
